'Bombing 1.5 million people in a cage'

Blogger in Gaza, In Gaza

'It's hell in here. This is an all-out war against the civilian Palestinian population in Gaza. It is a very young population. Anybody who tries to portray this as a sort of clean war against another army is lying. This is a poor and very young people. And they are able to escape absolutely nowhere. They cannot flee. They are fenced in. They're in a cage. They're bombing 1.5 million people in a cage.'

10th Day Death Toll

On January 3, as Israeli forces moved into Gaza, 10,000 from all over Israel marched in Tel Aviv. According to Israeli group Gush Shalom (Peace Bloc), as the the march began to disperse, 'a large crowd of rightists started to attack them,' and the police 'disappeared from the scene.' It was impossible to hold a public rally. Here is a translation of the speech Uri Avnery, Gush Shalom founder, journalist, and former Knesset member, was prevented from giving at the end of the march.
